Happy Christmas - Free Book Giveaway

Hello Everyone and a very Happy Christmas to us all.
Wow! December has just been so busy it's literally flown by and now here we are on Christmas Eve just waiting for the big day to begin.
You've just got to love it all haven't you!

Weather wise I can't see any snow at the moment but who knows maybe Santa will bring a cold spell tonight and turn the rain into some of the white stuff. I can only hope.

Anyway mince pies are calling me to me so I 've got to go - all I wanted to say was 'Some Cats' and 'I Like Breakfast' are both free today and Christmas Day so I hope you download them and enjoy them over this the best time of the year.
Happy Christmas

I Like Breakfast

I've got to say I'm pretty excited, my brand new picture book 'I Like Breakfast' is hot off the kindle press today!
I know we've all heard the old expression 'Breakfast is good for you' but sadly we don't always take on board good advice, especially when you've got a fussy eater and the busy day is crowding in all around us.

That's why 'I Like Breakfast' is such a useful children's picture book, not only is it humourous and engaging but it also gently educates your child into wanting a healthy breakfast.

Anyway I hope you have as much fun reading  'I Like Breakfast' as I had creating it.
Happy Eating - Dan

Hello! It's Hello World Day

Have you ever heard of ‘Hello World Day’?

I must admit I was completely oblivious of it until today and then someone I’d never met before said Hello to me and then explained why.

Apparently, every 21st of November (Hello World Day), the idea is to say ‘Hello’ to at least ten people, as a simple message to everyone that communication amongst ourselves is a pretty cool idea.

So to everyone who is reading this, ‘Hello’ and have a very happy ‘Hello World Day’.

Georgia's Big Idea

Say hello to Georgia the cow, the star and eponymous heroine of  'Georgia's Big Idea'.

Now Georgia is not you normal everyday cow, admittedly she's happy and contented munching grass and living by the sea but when she gets an idea into her head, she's a cow on a mission.
And this time Georgia's big idea is to fly!!!

Well as you can imagine getting a cow to be airborne is pretty difficult, even on a good day, so Georgia's journey of discovery is fraut with trials and tribulations, however, along the way she learns that perserverance is a quality that quite often helps you achieve your dreams.

Wonderfully narrated and already a winner in the InteractBooks international 'Bring your Book to Life' contest, Georgia's Big Idea is an interactive children's picture book that's ideal for young readers everywhere. Featuring many of the United Kingdom's recommended Key Stage 1 'High Frequency' words it's a beautiful rhyming story that will be loved by children, teachers and parents the world over.

Georgia's Big Idea will be available to download in the very near future... As they say 'Watch this space for details!'

It's Time For Carrots Video

It depends where you are in the world but carrot growing season is never very far away.
In fact whilst here in the U.K. things are looking a bit wet and windy, over in parts of California and Florida the carrot season is in full swing. Which goes to show just how internationally loved a good carrot is.
'It's Time For Carrots,' is the first interactive story in the Grandpa Joe and Rufus series and is now available in the iTunes App store. It's all about growing carrots at home - something that is surprisingly easy to do for kids from 2 to 102. And that, I'm happy to say, includes me.

Here's a quick video trailer of Grandpa Joe and Rufus in 'It's Time For Carrots'.

Have you seen Georgia on the Colouring Page

Say hello to Georgia the cow, she's the heroine in my latest story/interactive App 'Georgia's Big Idea'.
I 've got to admit it I'm pretty excited, as this is the first time Georgia has sneaked out into the public gaze. You see, sometime during this month ( hooves crossed) Georgia will be able to bound across your iPad in all of her glory (but more of that at a later date).
In the meantime, Georgia has made her debut on the free colouring page. If you remember I did promise to keep on adding new colouring page images, so print her off at your leisure and happy colouring in.

Some Cats - Top of the Kindle Bestsellers

Well 'Some Cats' had a wonderful weekend!
Downloaded hundreds of times, 'Some Cats' shot to the number one slot in the Kindle store, both here in the U.K. and also in the United States.
In fact, when  you think about it, I suppose you could say 'Some Cats' had a PURRFECT couple of days.
So thank-you to everyone that downloaded the picture book I really hoped you enjoyed it and if any of you can find the time a review would be absolutely marvellous.

Have you seen the Colouring Page?

Have you checked out the new colouring in page?
Last night about 2 am I woke up with the thought - 'How cool would it be to have pictures you could colour in on the website'. So this morning I did some scouting around on the internet, contacted a few technical people and 'Hey Presto' you'll now find a brand new colouring in page on the site.
Now the more eagle eyed amongst us, will immediately notice that's there's only one picture on the page so far. But I promise as the days go by I will add more images, so eventually the page will be chock-a-block with pictures to colour in.
Today's picture is Rufus the dog. One of the central characters from 'It's Time for Carrots,' my interactive book App that's available on iTunes and InteractBooks

Welcome to Dan Byrne Books

Hello and welcome to the first brand new posting on my brand new blog.
It's always a bit exciting when you look at a blank page that’s begging to be filled with words, but let’s put that to one side for the moment and get onto the important stuff. Namely ‘Reading’, that’s right, that’s what we’re here for, to encourage our children to read.
Now you don’t need me to tell you how important it is to start reading at an early age.  It promotes social connectivity, stimulates brain activity and nurtures the imagination, but to be truthful if it isn’t a fun activity then you’re going to have an uphill struggle with your child. That’s why I try to inject a little humour into all of my books. Admittedly it may not be to everyone’s liking, but even if one child chuckles somewhere then at least you’ve got to say it’s a start.
